Aftermath
In 1975 the evacuation of Saigon began which marked the final departure of American troops from Vietnam. Since this date the United States have been affected by the war in many aspects. For example congress changed the draft system into a voluntary force. The war had deeply undermined the morale in and around the army and this was an attempt to restore it. The public also lost their faith in the army in general. For example many people believed that Pentagon had inflated enemy casualties in order justify the war. (Mintz, S., & McNeil, S.)

Present Time - Agent Orange
People in Vietnam are still today affected by what happened during the war. For example people in Vietnam are today still affected by “Agent Orange”, a chemical that was used by the US during the war. Agent Orange was used by the US Army between 1961-1972. The chemical was used to kill forest cover used by the communist. Agent Orange contains the carcinogen dioxin and if exposed to can lead to birth defects, severe illness, diabetes or cancer (Tan Qiuyi). - August
Past War Reactions/Controversy
The Vietnam war have also had an impact on the reaction of more current wars. This cartoon displays the idea that the United States gave a false reason for engagement in the Vietnam war by the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. This cartoon suggest that the same was done in 2003 for the invasion of Iraq. This shows how the Vietnam war and the incidents that lead up to war repeat themselves in history. - August
